(due 17.12.2019 – present during the lecture)

1. Find methodological application of Systems engineering used today and make a short description.

Hints:
You may focuse on a particular area – e.g. IT, manufacturing, administration and look it there. Or you may look in the area of System engineering standards, e.g. Standard ISO 15288

Note: Do not describe ISO 9000, Six Sigma and ITIL (will be subject of lectures)

 

2. Make a short research at some job server for the position of System Engineer. What do the employers expect from the candidates for the system engineer? - summarize the main characterstics

 

 

Homework 2

(due 3.12.2019 – present during the lecture)

1. Read the paper from Joseph Kasser and Derek Hitchins. 
Focus on the first part on the paper - different SE "camps". Think about the different attitudes to systems engineering (different “camps”). Which one is the most appealing to you? 
2. Read the paper "The Art and Science of Systems Engineering" from Michael Ryschkewitsch, Dawn Schaible and Wiley Larson. Afterwards you should be able to say what system engineer is doing and what qualities he/she needs to have to be able to do the job. What characteristic is the most important according to your opinion?

 

Homework 1

(due 12.11.2019 – paper summary present during the lecture)

Choose a paper describing some application of any soft systems methodology and make a summary.
It may be from any area.
